A Research diary is usually notebook or a diary wherein students can note down the details of the planning phase of the research as well as the task completed. It is a yardstick for both the student and the teacher in keeping track with deadlines.
It becomes an assessment tool for the supervising teacher and forms an evidence of the work carried out and completed by the student. It contains notes taken from various sources such as books, websites etc.,. Brief quotations can also be included.
Broadly speaking the dates, notes, sources are the important heads which are included in a Research Diary. Adequate space should be provided for teachers comments. It becomes a useful aid when the students prepare the draft of the research report. It should be well noted that no entry shall be made after the final completion of the Research Report.
